About — Ins & Outs

We believe in helping others, supporting our community, and improving the lives of those around us. For Ins & Outs, this starts at home. Ins & Outs was founded by us – Stephen and Lauren Imwalle. We simply wanted to build a home and family and in 2011 our journey began. That Fall we moved into a historic home built in 1879, in the village of Glendale, Ohio. We believed the home had much potential but it needed a lot of work (plus we were bold, inspired and naïve). That was the beginning of our journey and through the ups and downs of renovating an old home, growing in marriage, and expanding our family (with 2 sweet kids and several pets too) we were inspired to create Ins & Outs. Ins & Outs is a place to share our story, experience and to pass that wisdom along to others in the hopes of improving the lives of those around us.

Lauren is the “Ins” of Ins & Outs. She is an Interior Designer who earned her degree from the University of Kentucky College of Design and also has education, training and experience in graphic, web and instructional design. The word “designer” describes her to a tee. Her introverted nature, creative passion, sense of humor and master organizational skills make her the steady partner that guides Ins & Outs forward. She is the ultimate counterpart to Stephen’s “Outs”. In addition to her home and family, Lauren also loves puzzles, pets (pugs), board games and comedy.
***What does Lauren listen to when working on design projects?*** *Something funny - often the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.*
***What is Stephen’s favorite thing about Lauren?*** Lauren’s sense of humor! Her creative problem solving and ability to plan, along with the myriad of other tasks she can juggle, is a terrific motivator. She does this all in a calm fashion that inspires everyone to be better.

Stephen is the “Outs” of Ins & Outs. With his Master of Fine Arts degree, Bachelor's degree of Science in Biology, and over 10 years experience as an elementary math and science teacher, he possesses the perfect balance of art and science. His education, plus experience, skills, and strong passion for creating, growing and learning are what quite literally builds Ins & Outs. His bold sense of humor, free spirit, passion for the arts, respect for education and ability to light up a room make him the perfect match for Lauren’s “Ins”. In addition to his home and family, Stephen also loves music, movies, traveling, kayaking, hiking and tennis.
***What does Stephen listen to when working on design projects?*** *Music. I particularly love post rock bands such as Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Lift to Experience, and well, just ask me!*
***What is Lauren’s favorite thing about Stephen?*** His passion and free spirit! Stephen has a one of a kind, creative voice. He’s driven, hardworking and he elevates everything he creates. He’s also generous, passionate and has a contagious ability to be in the moment and enjoy life to the fullest!
